Out and About : Starstruck

A few weeks ago we got to show off some Chatelaine recipes at the prestigious Ladies’ Night out fundraiser. A bunch of fabulous chefs (including Mark McEwan, who’s not nearly so intimidating in person as he is on-tv) brought posh hors d’ouevres to sample alongside gorgeous wines, all in aid of programs for women and girls.

We were serving our favourite blue cheese-walnut crostini. We had some gorgeous wheels of Celtic Blue cheese from Ontario and the sweetest California walnuts, all served on President's Choice baguette. Suddenly, we spied Sami Jo Small and Jennifer Botterill, stars of the Canadian National Women’s hockey team. Yikes -- I morphed in to a squealing fan and begged for a photo with these two amazing women (looking stunning in their cocktail dresses). In return, they nibbled up some crostini and (much to our delight) asked for the recipe.
