Today would have been Julia Child’s 100th birthday. To celebrate, PBS — who produced and aired her groundbreaking cooking shows for decades — put together an awesome remix featuring some of Julia’s greatest tips. You simply must watch it!

Often imitated, but never duplicated, Julia Child left an indelible mark on the North American home cook with the release of Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

Seemingly overnight, frozen dinners and boxed cake mixes were shoved away giving way to fresh salads, soothing soups, Julia’s perfect roast chicken, boeuf bourguignon, homemade cakes and crème brûlée.

Through her approachable and warm demeanor, she taught us all that fresh ingredients married with solid technique, a relaxed attitude and a whole lot of butter is all it takes to be a great home chef. And for that, anyone who enjoys cooking, baking, and consuming great food, should be eternally grateful.

I know I am.
