Grocery list: beef dinner and scalloped potato dinner

You could easily put together my meal for 6 tonight for Valentine's day, or tomorrow for Family day. See my previous post for the recipes. Here's a grocery list: MEAT 4 lb beef tenderloin, trimmed and tied PRODUCE 1 lb (500 g) sliced mushrooms 2 shallots 1 onion 1 bunch of thyme 3 lbs (1.5 kg) potatoes, preferably russet or Yukon Gold. This is about 6 medium potatoes Green beans DAIRY 11/2 cups (375 mL) whipping cream 3 oz (90 g) gruyere cheese DRY GOODS A splash of sherry 1 cup (250 mL) Port or dry red wine 3 cup (750 mL) beef broth 10 oz (284 mL) can chicken broth Here is the stuff you probably have at home. Check and if not add to the grocery list. 1/2 cup (125 mL) butter 2 tbsp (30 mL) olive oil 1 tsp (5 mL) dried thyme leaves Coarsely ground black pepper Coarse salt Regular salt Nutmeg 1 garlic clove 1 bay leaf
