Food finds: In my very own backyard

This summer, I am very lucky to be eating my very own homegrown salad greens. My partner Scott built me a glorious box garden on the roof of our apartment. We have (well, mostly he has) been busy growing tomatoes, peppers, carrots, celery, fresh herbs and a variety of lettuce greens. Thanks to this weekend's incredible weather tons of lettuce leaves sprung up. We have a variety of baby greens that are hard to find at the grocery store including baby red leaf, baby romaine and baby Boston leaf. Last night, I used some in a simple salad and they were tender and delicious. I also love using baby romaine for one of our recent Chatelaine recipes - Seared Scallops on Wilted Greens. Here are some of the lettuces we're growing and my treasured garden:
