Fiery Asian burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 lime

  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp hot chili-garlic sauce

  • 1 tsp dark sesame oil

  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger

  • 500 g ground chicken

Instructions

  • Oil grill and heat barbecue to medium. Finely grate 1 tsp (5 mL) peel from lime into a large bowl. Squeeze in 1 tbsp (15 mL) juice. Stir in onion, soy, chili-garlic sauce, sesame oil and ginger. Crumble in chicken. Using a fork or your hands, gently mix together. Shape into 4 burgers, about 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick.

  • Place on grill. Barbecue with lid closed until burgers are cooked through, 6 to 8 minutes per side.

  • Tuck into sesame buns spread with soy-flavoured mayo, if you wish. Great with a mango-spinach salad.
