Ingredients

  • 1/2 450-g pkg spaghetti pasta

  • olive oil

  • 2 to 3 frozen burgers

  • 4 plum or 2 large tomatoes

  • 1 cup tomato sauce

  • 1 tsp dried oregano, or basil leaves

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil, or cilantro

Instructions

  • Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Add pasta and cook according to package directions. Meanwhile, lightly coat a large frying pan with oil and set over medium-high heat. Add frozen burgers and cook until browned, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Meanwhile, coarsely chop tomatoes.

  • Leave browned burgers in pan. Using a spatula, cut into bite-size pieces. (Remove from heat if it's easier.) Stir in tomatoes, pasta sauce, oregano and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce is hot and tomatoes start to break down, 3 to 4 minutes. If sauce is ready before pasta, turn off heat but leave saucepan on burner. Drain pasta, then stir into sauce until evenly coated. Sprinkle with basil. Serve with grated Parmesan.
