Sassy cheddar-cranberry spread

Ingredients

  • 1 250-g container whipped or spreadable cream cheese

  • 2 cups old cheddar

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 1/4 tsp dry mustard

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 2 tbsp dried cranberries, or toasted nuts

Instructions

  • Mix cream cheese with grated old cheddar cheese, milk, dry mustard and cayenne.

  • Stir in very finely chopped dried cranberries or toasted nuts. Use right away or cover and refrigerate up to 3 days. Serve with tiny pretzels or slices of multigrain baguette.

  • To reduce calories and fat, use light cream cheese and low-fat cheddar cheese.
