New salsa cheeseburgers

Ingredients

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup salsa

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs

  • 500 g ground beef

  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar, or fontina

Instructions

  • Preheat barbecue and lightly oil grill. In a large bowl, whisk egg with salsa and seasonings. Stir in bread crumbs. Add meat and work with a fork until blended. Work in cheese.

  • Shape into 4 burgers, about 3/4 inch (2 cm) thick. Then barbecue, turning once, about 8 minutes a side for well-done burgers.

Jazz up ground beef with spicy salsa and whatever cheese you have on hand. Serve on fresh kaiser rolls topped with fiery salsa, nippy cheddar or guacamole.
