Let the Trudeau love fest continue: Catalyst, a non-profit organization focused on women in the workplace, announced Friday that it will honour the prime minister for his "inclusive, game-changing leadership" at a gala fundraiser in New York. The event, where tickets go for upwards of $60,000 a table, will be held at the Waldorf Astoria on March 16.
The announcement comes on the same day that Trudeau participated in a panel on gender parity — along with Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg and Melinda Gates — at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Trudeau is the second leader Catalyst has given a special commendation to — last year it was Japan's prime minister, Shinzo Abe. Catalyst cited Trudeau's 50/50 cabinet, which it says "has inspired leaders around the world by championing women’s rights and bringing women into the broader political dialogue. His simple explanation for his actions, 'because it’s 2015,' has become a mantra even as we move into a new year."
So, yeah: It's an award being given to a man for letting talented women do their jobs ... even though it's 2016.
