In the know: Make your house a home

Chatelaine and Chatelaine.com are pleased to introduce decor editor Arren Williams. Read on to learn more about Arren's experience and personal design philosophy, then come back next month for some style tips you can really use.

About Arren
You'll remember Arren's versatile and rich room settings from the magazine's September issue (One Couch, 3 Looks) and his playful approach to garden decor in our May issue (Lawn Ornaments). Before he joined Chatelaine, Arren was a regular contributor to Canadian House and Home, Style at Home and Elle. Look for his practical yet stylish features in Chatelaine and Web-exclusive articles in Chatelaine.com. Plus, you can email him your own design questions at askarren@chatelaine.com.

From Arren
For me, decor is less about what's fashionable, and more about reflecting your personality. Think of your space as an ever-changing snapshot of yourself—your passions, travels and personal history. A true home is comfortable—not untouchable. Whether you mix flea market finds with family treasures or go sleek and modern, you should be able to relax and put your feet up on the sofa.
