Meghan Markle Makes Her First TV Appearance Since Stepping Down As A Senior Royal

Duchess Meghan has made her first TV appearance since she and Prince Harry stepped down from their senior royal roles back in March.

On April 20, the Duchess of Sussex appeared on Good Morning America to discuss her Disneynature film, Elephant, which she narrated! The pre-recorded video clip was shot last year during the former actress's recording session for the film. Elephant premiered on the Disney+ streaming service at the beginning of this month.

"I am really grateful to have the opportunity of bringing this story of elephants to life," the duchess said in the video clip from Disney.

"These creatures are so majestic, and at the same time they are so sensitive and so connected."

The first season of the just-released series is already beloved by audiences and critics.

"I've been very lucky to be able to have hands-on experience with the elephants in their natural habitat," she said.

"When you spend time connecting to them and the other wildlife, you really understand we have a role to play in their preservation and their safety.

"We see in this film just how remarkable they are. Their memories are amazing."

According to The Times, Meghan asked for a donation to be made to Elephants Without Borders, which works to protect the animals from poaching, when she agreed to do the voiceover deal with Disney.

It was a meaningful choice because Prince Harry and Meghan have a history with the organization. In 2017, they travelled to Botswana and helped Elephants Without Borders' Dr. Mike Chase on a conservation effort.

Photos from that trip were later posted on the Sussex Royal Instagram in honour of World Elephant Day in 2019.

The release of Meghan's video clip comes after a busy week for the Sussexes. The couple stepped out last week in Los Angeles to deliver food packages to people with life-threatening illnesses to help during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were also photographed holding hands during one of the drop-offs.

Royals fans will know that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with son Archie, recently relocated from Canada to Meghan's native Los Angeles.

Meghan also had a Zoom call with The Hubb Community Kitchen to support its new campaign to provide food to hungry Londoners during the coronavirus.

On April 15, it was reported Harry and Meghan would donate £90,000 (approximately $158,000) to Feeding Britain to provide support during the battle with COVID-19. The money was generated through "excess profits" from the BBC broadcast of their 2018 wedding, according to Town & Country.
