A couple of weekends ago my family had the pleasure of visiting an old Ontario farmhouse with some friends of ours. I love these rambling houses with wild, unkempt gardens and pieced together rooms. Nothing is too precious and everyone feels immediately at home. My little toddler, Orla, felt right at home, too. Here, she's carefully making her way down the front step of the farmhouse. I love the three stars above the door, a whimsical touch as is the wire window basket filled with logs.
Leisurely lunches outside on the deck have to be one of life’s great pleasures. This Nicoise salad was beautifully made by our host. The rustic whitewashed table and vintage porcelain platter found in the kitchen were photo-shoot ready! Read more: Gorgeous salad recipes
White painted floors and a colour blocked quilt make a simple statement in an upstairs bedroom. A wreath made of dried flowers from the property are an easy way to adorn the pale apple green walls.
The daughter of our family friends takes a wild ride on a gnarly tree swing.
This nook in the dining room of the farmhouse is the ideal spot for an afternoon nap. Gauzy white curtains, a vintage Persian rug, painted floors and floral pillows all work together in this eclectic historical house.
