Hosting a dinner party doesn't have to be expensive, especially if you know how to turn bargain finds into dazzling display. I did a one-stop shop at my local dollar store and put together a blue-themed table setting for my summer shindig. To complete this colourful arrangement, I added fresh white flowers from my local flower shop.

Small ceramic bowls

Small bowls are an entertaining staple. You can use them to hold treats and candy, condiments and herbs, or as decorative items. For this party decor, I've used them as mini vases. You can spread them around your home or place them together to create a dramatic table centrepiece. White ceramic bowls, $2 for 3.

Here, I've used wine glasses with colourful gems and a a small mirror to add shimmer ands parkle to my sea-themed soirée. Wine glasses, $1 each, Aqua Pillar candles, $1 each.

All of the pieces above were purchased at Dollarama.
