Handy little table

While oversized console tables can take up ample space in the foyer, a small accent table will fit right in. Use it as a storage spot for your mail, keys and wallet. Add a fresh floral arrangement on the table for a punch of colour.

Mail safe

We're all guilty of stashing our mail in miscellaneous spots only to lose track of where we put them later. Store all of that incoming mail with a letter holder you can hang in the foyer — and deal with organizing it later.

Welded Letter Holder, $68, Anthropologie.

The ultimate organizer

Ease away from the traditional hook rack, and embrace a new look for your daily throw-ons. This all-in-one shoe, coat, and accessories stand will be among the most used furniture items in your home. Its simple structure doesn’t take up too much room, and the raw steel and mango wood creates an industrial-meets-rustic look we love.

Chalkboard station

Create a family calendar on your chalkboard station, or to write reminders and notes to family members. It's a great way to stay on top of the day-to-day and have important messages me top of mind as soon as you walk through the front door.

Take a rest

A bench is a nice addition to any foyer and a warm welcome to tired feet at the end of a long day. Hang up a large art piece just above for dramatic entryway decor. Want to get the same twinkly lights wall art? Follow this DIY from designer Virginie Martocq.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Create the illusion of more space in an entryway with a long-length mirror placed on the floor, or a mid-length mirror above a console table. And it'll come in handy for those last-minute touch-ups before you head out.

LIMA Mirror, $119, Mirage Console Table, $399, TREE Coat rack, $119, Structube.

On the floor

Add character and comfort to your entryway with a stylish floor rug. Stick to a simple patterned rug if your surrounding decor is already quite busy, or if your entryway needs more interest, dress up your floors with a rug that's bold in design.
