Untamed florals

For a new generation of florists — many with Instagram followings over the 100K mark — loosely constructed, locally sourced arrangements have replaced tight, formal bouquets made from imported hothouse blooms. Flowers, Willem and Jools; Table, Mrs. Huizenga.

Statement lights, geometric tiles and green rooms

Standout, sculptural lighting in a range of materials — from rattan to brass to glass — shows no signs of going away. Looking to replace your floors? Intricately patterned tiles inspired by North African and European designs are increasingly being used in place of wood floors, especially in the kitchen. And what of your walls? Green has long been overlooked as an option for interiors, which is probably why this hue suddenly looks so fresh. Light, pitcher, IkeaSofa, rug, pillows, EltePlants, Dynasty TorontoPaint, Natural Green, SicoBowl, BrikaTiles, Mettro.

Modern quilts

Artisans are reviving the traditional craft of quilt-making with strong colour-blocked designs. Drape them on your bed, give them as keepsakes or hang them on your walls. Quilt on ladder, Hey Love Quilt Co.; Ladder, UmbraHanging quilts, wall quilt hanger, Style Garage; Folded blue quilt, The Bay; Folded neutral quilt, HomeSense.

Earthy delights

Dress your home in a romantic palette of intricate floral wallpapers, plush velvets, leafy pottery and lush fabrics in shades of moss, sage and emerald green. Chintz, wall panelling, claw-foot tubs, roll-arm sofas and painted eat-in kitchens — all reminiscent of cozy English cottages — are also enjoying a resurgence. Rolled wallpaper, pinned wallpaper, green floral fabric, TelioVintage books, egg, ball, architectural object, Mrs. HuizengaGreen velvet, PrimaveraLeather, tassels, appliqué, Designer FabricsSeed pod, Willem and Jools

Soft minimalism

This more approachable form of minimalism is heavily influenced by Scandinavian and Japanese sensibilities, which emphasize understated beauty over elaborate decoration. Pale wood, refined silhouettes and attention to
detail are its hallmarks. Desk, stool, light, brass accessories, Mjolk; Rug, Ikea; Pink bowl, black pot, paperweight, Brika; Postcard, Red Pegasus.

’70s vibes

After years of mid-century modern dominance, the decadence of the ’70s is looking pretty cool. Particularly prevalent is a modern take on the laid-back, bohemian spirit of that era. Bring on the shag rugs and macramé wall hangings! Rug, wall hanging, coloured pillow, CB2; Chair, sofa, Up CountryCoffee table, vase, ElteSquare pillow, HomeSenseThrow, fringed pillow, Anthropologie.
