Hang a mood lamp

Industrial-style fixtures are getting a lot of attention these days. We fell for this soft plum option that adds ambience as well as light.

Roll out a patterned carpet (or two)

Fall's new graphic rugs are chockablock with fun! Mix designs for a fresh look, or take advantage of the carpet tile option and lay them in an irregular shape.

Put it on a pedestal

Everything looks better on a pedestal, especially these beautifully hand-turned ones by artisan Nikole Herriott. Use them to present crackers and cheese at your next dinner party or as a catch-all by the front door.

Go for gold!

Set the perfect sparkly table with gold-accented pieces. Just as in fashion, this warm metal is super-hot right now.

Try a dark colour

Even with an antique fireplace and dark floors, this room is decidedly modern thanks to the bright plastic chair and vases. But it's the bold horizontal stripe that's got us most excited! Paint your own in the season's it colour, teal, reinvented for this century.

Change up a side table

Why do we love this little table? Because its removable tray comes in black, red and white; because it comes in two heights; and because its wood frame is available in black or natural teak. But mainly because it makes passing cocktails around that much easier.

Wallpaper a single wall

A little patience is all it takes to hang wallpaper, and it's the perfect way to jazz up a blah room.

Use this groovy number as a footrest or tiny stool in a kid's room. Bonus: It comes in three fashionable colours.

Plant a green wall

This pretty, practical wall-mounted pocket system has more uses than we can think of! Its cubbies are perfect to maintain order in the front hall or home office (or anywhere, really), but it also works beautifully as a vertical planter.

Talk to your washer & dryer

Busy women, rejoice. Samsung's laundry pair are now wifi-enabled so you can stay on top of washing and drying cycles and even start and stop them from anywhere.
