natural herbal remedies

Herbal remedies are products that come from plants or plant extracts that are used for their medicinal properties. Seventy-one percent of Canadians regularly take natural products, including herbal products.

Benefits People take herbal remedies for a variety of reasons — for example, to strengthen their immune system, cure common ailments and treat diseases. Herbal remedies are widely available without a prescription.

Side effects Since herbal remedies are natural products, people may consider them safe to use. While most herbal products have a history of safe use and are intended to improve health, some substances have serious health consequences. Consult with a doctor before taking herbal remedies. Some remedies may decrease the effectiveness of other medications; some can be harmful during pregnancy.
