From menstrual cups to reusable pads, these options are designed with comfort, the environment and your budget in mind. Whether you’re looking for leakproof underwear, organic cotton tampons or any other kind of period care, there's a Canadian product to consider.

Founded in Kitchener, Ont. in 2003, Diva Cup is now a household name. Manufactured in Canada, this reusable silicone cup reduces bathroom breaks, cuts down on material waste and ensures leak-free comfort. Its standard model holds up to five regular tampons’ worth of fluid.

Knix Leakproof Underwear, From $18 

Offering a wide range of styles and fabrics, each with different levels of absorbency, Toronto-based Knix's leakproof underwear (whose leakproof layers are manufactured in Europe) offers comfortable built-in protection. Thanks to patented absorbency technology, these machine-washable period panties can absorb up to 17 tsp of liquid during each use.

These pre-packaged bundles include a variety of biodegradable and compostable organic cotton tampons as well as organic bamboo pads and liners. Founded in Victoria, B.C., Joni's products are made in Canada and the company donates at least two percent of its revenues to menstrual equity initiatives in North America.

Nixit’s one-size-fits-all disc-shaped menstrual cup is made in Canada. The disc offers 12 hours of protection and can hold up to 70 mL of fluid—more than many period cups. The stem-free design sits above the vaginal canal and can be worn during sex.

Aisle Underwear features a multi-layered leakproof lining that can absorb four to eight tampons’ worth of fluid. Each washable pair—which are made at a woman-owned factory in Cambodia—also comes with a removable absorbency booster that can hold an extra four tampons of fluid. Aisle is based in Vancouver and also sells a wide variety of reusable pads and liners (both made in Canada) .

Canada’s first reusable tampon applicator comes in a kit with a set of organic cotton tampon refills and a reusable storage box. Only is based in Ontario, and its applicator—available in two sizes—is a great sustainable choice for tampon users.

Specializing in machine-washable cloth pads and pantyliners, Öko Créations designs, creates and manufactures all of its menstrual products in Quebec. Made from eco-friendly hemp-based material, these pads are both fragrance and chemical-free.
