The World Cup is here, and there’s a new contender—in the McFlurry lineup. The McDonald’s limited-time Golden McFlurry swirls together the chain’s iconic soft serve with ribbons of golden caramel and crunchy caramelized coconut topping.
Team Chatelaine grabbed a few (wooden) spoons to see whether it deserved a goal—or a red card.
The caramel flavour is luscious, without being cloyingly sweet, giving the bite an almost dulce-de-leche quality that pairs well with the creamy vanilla base. The caramelized coconut adds a fun and satisfying crunch—when you actually get enough of it.
Our only complaint? We wanted more topping. The crunchy bits disappear far too quickly, leaving behind the occasional sticky, chewy piece of coconut (that won't make your dentist very happy).
Still, that’s the small price to pay for a McFlurry that feels more trophy-winning than your average drive-thru dessert. Whether you’re celebrating a win or loss this World Cup, this one is worth adding to your order while it’s still kicking.
