Halloween party menu for kids and grown ups

If you’re celebrating with a costume or pumpkin-carving party this weekend, or maybe you need to feed the neighbourhood kids and parents before Monday night’s candy run, this menu is packed with dishes that will please kids and kids at heart. Happy Halloween!

Snacks
Spiced fruit and nut popcorn A healthier alternative to chips and dips, and they’ll love the fall spices mixed with pecans, cranberries and popcorn.

Starter
Oven-roasted pumpkin soup Warm their bellies and use up your leftover pumpkin puree. Make it ahead and freeze. While it’s reheating, whip up the simple maple-cream for swirling on top.

Main
Ravioli lasagna with sausage and mushroom This is one of our most popular dishes ever, and it’s guaranteed to be a hit with your trick-or-treaters, too. It will fill them up and get them out the door with energy for hours and hours of masquerading.

Side
Caramelized sweet potatoes This recipe works double time, providing nutrients (they're packed with calcium, potassium, and vitamins A and C) and giving them the sweetness they’ll be craving.

Dessert
Pumpkin cupcakes with maple icing Don’t be a grinch, and do give them, or send them away with a little sweet. The cream-cheese icing calls for bacon, but skip if you think little, picky or vegetarian guests will object.
