Braised Red Cabbage

Chatelaine Triple Tested

This braised red cabbage goes perfectly with our pork chops and brandy sauce. The best part? Its all ready in 25 minutes!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 2-Jan large red cabbage, thinly sliced, about 6 cups

  • 1/2 cup apple cider, or juice

  • 2 tsp honey

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • fresh pepper

Instructions

  • MELT butter in a large saucepan over medium-high. Add cabbage and cook, stirring occasionally, until it starts to soften, 3 to 4 min.

  • STIR in apple cider (or juice), apple cider vinegar, honey and salt. Season with fresh pepper. Cover and continue cooking until tender, 9 to 10 min.

Calories 84, Protein 2g, Carbohydrates 16g, Fat 2g, Fibre 4g, Sodium 258mg.
Good source of Vitamin B6.

Serve as a side for our pork chops with brandy sauce.
