Za'atar Flatbread With Yogurt Dip

Ingredients

  • 3 7-in. pita breads

  • 3 tbsp olive oil, divided

  • 2 tbsp za'atar

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt

  • 1/2 cup mascarpone

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp sumac

Instructions

  • POSITION rack in centre of oven and preheat to 400F. Arrange pitas in a layer on a baking sheet. Stir 2 tbsp oil with za’atar in a small bowl. Brush over tops of pitas. Bake until just golden but not crisp, 3 to 5 min.

  • STIR yogurt, mascarpone and salt in a bowl until smooth. Transfer to a serving bowl. Sprinkle with sumac. Drizzle with remaining 1 tbsp oil.

  • TEAR pitas into pieces and serve with yogurt dip.

Kitchen tip: Sprinkle za'atar—a mix that generally includes thyme, oregano, sumac, sesame seeds and salt—on popcorn, pitas, yogurt, roasted potatoes and corn on the cob.
