Tartar sauce makes an incredible condiment for seafood, and it's easy to make at home. Try this lighter take on a tartar sauce recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup light mayonnaise

  • 1/3 cup sour cream, or yogurt

  • 1/4 cup chopped dill pickles

  • 1 tbsp green pickle relish

  • 1 tsp finely chopped capers

  • 1 thinly sliced green onion

  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, stir together light mayonnaise and sour cream (or yogurt) with dill pickles, relish, capers, green onion and cayenne pepper. Makes about 2/3 cup tartar sauce (150 mL).

Serve light tartar sauce with chunky country fries

COOK at the same time as fish. Position racks on top and bottom shelves in oven. Preheat oven to 500F . Prepare fries and bake on bottom shelf 15 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare fish according to directions in recipe. After fries have baked 15 minutes, turn them. Place fish on top rack and bake until coating is crisp and golden, 12 to 15 minutes.
