Chatelaine Triple Tested

A sweet, dense tahini-based treat usually eaten in pieces. Our version is an irresistible creamy spread with the same sesame flavour.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tahini, room temperature

  • 1/4 cup sifted icing sugar

  • 1 tbsp water

  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  • Whisk tahini with icing sugar, water and vanilla in a medium bowl until blended. Serve immediately or transfer to a clean glass jar, seal with lid and refrigerate up to 1 month. Bring to room temperature before serving.

Nutrition (per 2 tbsp)

Calories 169, Protein 4g, Carbohydrates 12g, Fat 13g, Fibre 2g, Sodium 28mg.
Good source of iron.

Variation Whisk in 3 tbsp sifted unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 tsp water and 1⁄2 tsp vanilla until blended. Makes 1 1⁄3 cups.

Kitchen Tip

If tahini is too thick, add 1 tsp water.
