How to make pretty paper doily bowls

By Jessica Organ

Doily Bowl with jewelry

These pretty paper doily bowls can be used to add a touch of dainty elegance to any home.  Create small bowls to keep rings and earrings tidy, or make bigger ones and fill with candies or potpourri!

Here's what you'll need to do:

1.  Blow up a balloon until it is about the size of your fist.  Rub the bottom of the balloon with Vaseline so your paper bowl won't stick to the balloon once dry, and will come off nice and smoothly.

2. Thin the glue slightly with water and brush some on the balloon.  One by one, place the doily on the balloon, and paint over it with glue.  Cover only half of the balloon, making a bowl shape. (you can rest the tied end of the balloon in a mug or bowl, to prevent it from rolling around when working on it and when drying).

3. Repeat the process, overlapping doilies until you have about 3 layers.

5. Once dry, pop the balloon and separate it from the dried doily bowl.
