Over wine and sushi, Ozeki shared how her own past, present and future inspired her latest book. Our evening with Ruth Ozeki, author of A Tale For The Time BeingAuthor Ruth Ozeki with a copy of her book A Tale For The Time Being First glimpse The former filmmaker started the evening by showing the Book Club and fellow book lovers the beautiful (and self-directed!) book trailer, which offers a perfect first glimpse at this delightful novel.
Our evening with Ruth Ozeki, author of A Tale For The Time BeingGuests at the event watching the book trailer (created by Ruth herself) Ruth's inspiration A Tale For The Time Being was seven years in the making, but now it’s taking book-lovers by storm.

“Nao came to me in 2006,” Ruth says. While Ruth continued to develop the schoolgirl’s story, which is told through a diary, she struggled with the other side of tale, Nao’s reader. “I auditioned lots of characters,” she says. It was her husband, Oliver, who ultimately suggested the creation of semi-autobiographical character Ruth. Our evening with Ruth Ozeki, author of A Tale For The Time BeingRuth explaining how she came up with the idea of A Tale For The Time Being Social savvy One of the most exciting revelations: The loveable character of Nao’s great grandmother, 104-year-old Buddhist nun, Jiko, is about to get social media savvy. “She’s asked me to help her,” Ruth whispers while signing my book.
