The great neighbourhood holiday cookie giveaway

Some new neighbours moved in last week and it got me thinking that it might be nice to welcome them to the street with some fresh baked cookies. Of course, that means cookies for all the neighbours since I live on a street where everyone knows everyone else's business, and selectively giving cookies to one house and not another might pose a big problem! So, I got pounds of butter and bags of chocolate chips and set about baking dozens and dozens of cookies. Now the fun part begins: dressing up a home-made gift so it really looks like a million bucks.

Since I had not really planned this out properly, I needed to rummage around the house to see what I could find to make these beauties feel special. I found a box of cellophane bags leftover from kids' loot bags, and a roll of ribbon in my wrapping drawer. (I have been known to buy tons and tons of ribbon when I find it on sale!). I placed a dozen cookies in each bag, rolled the tops down, and tied a huge pink ribbon around the little package. I finished off the gift with a mail tag wishing everyone a happy holiday. I must say, I was quite pleased with the way they looked!
