Make a dazzling outdoor ice lantern

An easy winter project to decorate your home exterior with - all you need is a few simple household items

Capture the magic of winter with a cool, crackling ice lantern. You can make this northern beauty out of items you have lying around the house. Just fill a bucket three-quarters full with water, then set a second smaller bucket or bowl inside, and fill with rocks so that the water in the first bucket reaches the top. Secure in position with duct tape and leave outside to set. When frozen, loosen by running hot water over the sides. Pop the lantern out, and place small candles or votives inside. Forget the ice hotel — a small yard and some chilled vodka is all you need.
