How to make two-toned candles with crayons

Create the look of expensive hand-dipped pillar candles with these DIY instructions from design expert Michael Penney

Blue and white hand-dipped pillar candles

Easy how-to:

1. Shred wax crayons using a carrot peeler or large-hole grater into an empty metal can with an opening that is slightly larger than the diameter of your pillar candle.

2. Place the can with the shredded crayons in a pot of boiling water. Heat until the crayons have completely melted.

3. Remove pot from heat. Using oven mitts, place can on a hot mat on your counter.

4. Dip candles one to three times, depending on how intense you want the colour. After the candles have cooled, wrap with raffia or ribbon.
