Designer rugs: Art at your feet

I've always been a big believer that art is one of the best investments you can have in your home. No furniture or architectural features will ever let you express your individual personality in quite the same way.

I've always been a big believer that art is one of the best investments you can have in your home. No furniture or architectural features will ever let you express your individual personality in quite the same way.

Far too often we think of art as confined to frames on the wall, but recently I was reminded that beautiful art is often found right at your feet. Avenue Road in Toronto boasts an amazing collection of carpets from designers such as Alexander McQueen, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood that stand up as veritable works of art in their own right. Their bright, saturated colours, bold graphics and beautiful imagery could create a whole new focal point and really change the feeling in your space. You may just have to remind yourself to look up occasionally.
