Disney Rocks!!!

Other than the fact that I got sick last night, just as we arrived in Disney, our first day in the Magic Kingdom was truly magical!!!!

We arrived last night to Disney and went to Downtown Disney just for a bit because I wasn't feeling well and didn't want to do any rides. OMG!!!!! It is so commercial. They have taken every possible item and put a Disney label on it and then sell like crazy. My husband wanted to know when they were going to figure out how to market condoms, since they figured out how to market everything else (tee hee hee). What do you think Walt would think of that?!?!? :)

Mark and Sydney went out for dinner and I stayed in bed with a fever and chills. Not the perfect first evening but at least it passed quickly. While I was lying in bed, I was trying to think of the positive things that I could take from this. I couldn't find one. I did manage to think of things that were worse, but I gotta be honest, in that moment, I was feeling pretty sorry for myself. Given all the rest of the stuff that I am dealing with in my life, you would think I could over something like that, but thinking about the fact that I might miss Disney World, I was feeling rather pathetic. It's amazing how hard it is to put things in perspective when things don't go your way. That's why when people say they feel like they shouldn't complain to me, I always say that it is fine to feel hard done by - everyone has problems and you shouldn't judge yours relative to others (ok, sometimes when you are being over the top it can help, but not ALL the time)

Well, today was great! although O was still feeling pretty lousy, I was able to spend the day in the Magic Kingdom. It was so fun to see how excited Sydney got by everything. We hired a guide for the day and while it was very very very expensive, given how I was feeling and the fact that I had done the research, not Mark, it turned out to be a blessing. We are on our own for the rest of the week but our guide gave us some tips so it shouldn't be too bad.

The crowds are crazy here. It is like a sea of people by the time early afternoon rolls around. Tip: go right when the park opens. The lines are shorter and you can fit more rides in during the day. We did space mountain, splash mountain, two roller coasters (small ones mind you), the dumbo ride, Peter Pan, Mickey's philharmonic, some others and, of course, it's a small world. What a whirlwind day!!!! This truly is a magical place.

Unfortunately, I forgot my Flip camera in the room so I couldn't capture any of the magic today on video but hopefully I will remember to bring it tomorrow and then I can share some video moments with you. The Christmas parade was awesome - sorry I don't have video of it, but I will upload some photos when we get back home :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!!!
