Are you up for The Challenge?

Grab your spinning – and dancing! – shoes and join the fight against breast cancer

Are you up for The Challenge?

On Saturday, April 28, 2007 at participating fitness clubs and studios across Ontario, fitness buffs and friends alike will be moving to the same beat and fighting for the same cause. That's the day of The Challenge, a spinning-by-day, dancing-by-night fundraiser which began in 2003 under the direction of Health and Fitness Events, a volunteer-based organization which, over the last 10 years, has raised over one million dollars for breast cancer research.

Last year, over 22 clubs participated in The Challenge, and this year, the event has been extended to include an evening dance-a-thon. Whether you're a spinner or a dancer, you need to raise of minimum of $250 in pledges in order to participate. "The energy throughout the city on that day will be palpable" says Tina Urman, co-founder of The Challenge and Health and Fitness Events, "our event is about individuals and fitness clubs working together as a team to make a difference in this important cause!"

Through a partnership with Rethink Breast Cancer, funds raised this year will assist the Toronto Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre (TSRCC) with the purchase of their first digital mammography machine. This highly sensitive machine, which will be in clinical practice by June 2007, will benefit women from across the country, who come to the TSRCC for its specialized services.
