The essential ingredient in one of our favourite appetizers — guacamole — is also superbly healthy: One avocado boasts more than 9 g of fibre — more than any other fruit. And half an avocado has more potassium than a banana, and lots of brain-protecting folate. Plus, avocados have the mono- and polyunsaturated “good” fats that are recommended as part of a healthy diet. Once ripe, be sure to take care when removing the pit — even we've had a blunder or two in the kitchen — so stick to the safest, easiest method. Watch the video above to find out how to pit an avocado quickly safely.
