Your next challenge is...a sweet one-pan dessert

These puffy pancakes have many unusual names including bismarcks and Dutch Puffs. In every case, a simple batter poured into a hot pan creates instant, unforgettable magic.

Our cooking club features one great recipe for the entire month, including a prize for the best photo entry. So spread the word to all your friends – with nearly a month to enter, fitting a new recipe onto the menu will be a breeze.

February's challenge: Sweet Dutch baby pancake

These puffy pancakes have many unusual names including bismarcks and Dutch Puffs. In every case, a simple batter poured into a hot pan creates instant, unforgettable magic. This sweet version is a perfect fast dessert or breakfast; or add sautéed mushrooms and bacon for a savoury meal.

The photo

Get creative! Don't shy away from colour; try different add-ons and garnishes, and add a few decorative props. Also, remember to experiment with different angles when taking your photo. Note: this pancake puffs up beautifully in the oven, but will fall rather rapidly – so if you don't have the chance to catch it in it's fresh-from-the-oven glory, don't despair. As you can see above, we didn't either! (But if you do manage it, we'd love to see it.)

The prize

At the end of the month we’ll select the best photo submission and that lucky winner will receive a Robert Irvine personal blender (for all you smoothie-lovers!), as well as a $50 gift certificate – all from our friends at The Shopping Channel.
