Local cider

This tart, thirst-quenching cider is made with just one ingredient: juicy Ontario apples. Not too sweet, and with a gentle fizz, it's the sip we can't get enough of.

Brickworks cider, $3.10, Brickworks Ciderhouse.

Genius gadget

Mashed potatoes gluey or lumpy? It helps to start with the right potatoes (russets or Yukon Golds are best), but it's the masher that makes all the difference. This genius little gadget doles out perfectly smooth and creamy spuds every time.

Good grips potato ricer, $40, OXO.

Fun treat
