Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped

  • 1 cup tomato sauce

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar, optional

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, optional

  • 1 tsp Tabasco sauce, optional

  • 2 soft buns, split in half

  • grated cheddar

  • sliced avocados

Instructions

  • Lightly coat a large frying pan with oil and set over medium heat. Add beef and garlic, then sprinkle with seasonings. Cook until no longer pink, 5 to 6 min, using a fork to break up meat occasionally. Meanwhile, prepare pepper and stir in.

  • Pour in pasta sauce. Taste, and if it is not sweet enough, add sugar. Stir in Worcestershire and Tabasco. Simmer, uncovered and stirring often, until mixture begins to thicken, about 2 min. Place half of a bun on each plate. Top with meat mixture, then grated cheese and avocado slices. Leftover sauce will keep well, covered and refrigerated, for at least 1 day.
