Chatelaine Triple Tested

We've combined two summer favourites (a refreshing lager and a citrusy margarita) into this a play on the corrido prohibido, a Mexican beer cocktail.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2/3 cup lime juice, divided

  • 1/2 cup white tequila

  • 2 355-mL bottles Corona beer, chilled

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 tsp granulated sugar

  • lime wedges, optional

Instructions

  • BOIL 1/3 cup sugar and 1/3 cup lime juice in a saucepan until sugar dissolves, 1 to 2 min. Pour into a pitcher along with remaining 1/3 cup lime juice and tequila. Refrigerate until chilled, about 30 min. Slowly stir in beer and a handful of crushed ice just before serving.

  • COMBINE salt and 2 tsp sugar on a small plate. Using a lime wedge or water, rim 4 glasses, then dip each in salt mixture. Pour in beer mixture. Garnish with a lime wedge.
