Braised red-cabbage wedges

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 onion, sliced

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1/3 cup red-wine vinegar

  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon

  • 2-Jan small red cabbage

  • sour cream, for garnish

Instructions

  • Melt 2 tbsp butter in a large pot over medium-high. Add 1 sliced onion, 3 tbsp brown sugar, 1/3 cup redwine vinegar and 1/8 tsp cinnamon. Stir until sugar is dissolved, 1 min. Add half of 1 small red cabbage, cut into 6 wedges with core intact. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, until cabbage is tender, 15 to 20 min. Garnish with sour cream.


A colourful and delicious side dish that's a nutritious and eye-pleasing accompaniment to any main.
