1 bunch fresh mint
1 large lemon, or lime
ice cubes
4 340-mL cans iced tea, or 1 2-L bottle
1/2 cup gin, or vodka
Remove mint leaves from stems. Place in a large pitcher. Using the back of a wooden spoon, mash leaves against side of pitcher to release flavour. Thinly slice lemon, then add to pitcher. Fill with ice cubes, then pour in iced tea. Serve as is or add gin. Stir well, then pour into tall glasses.

A classic pitcher of iced tea is a refreshing way to cool down. Cheat and use cans or a bottle from the supermarket. Jazz up store-bought tea at home or turn it into a cocktail, depending on the occasion. Or begin with our recipe.
Place 4 tea bags in 2 cups (500 mL) boiling water. Leave 15 minutes. Remove bags. Stir in 1/4 cup (50 mL) granulated sugar until dissolved. Pour into a pitcher. Fill with ice cubes, then add 2-1/2 cups (625 mL) cold water.
