Maintaining eavestroughs

Three ways to keep your eavestroughs running clear
Maintaining eavestroughs

1) Clogged gutters can discolour your walls and lead to leaks, so plan to degunk them twice in year in spring and fall.

2) Wear gloves since sharp metal bits can make this job even nastier. A garden spade will rout out dirt and leaves. Hang a bag on your ladder that you can shovel debris into (and for heaven's sake, have someone hold the ladder for safety!).

3) Finish the job by flushing eavestroughs with a hose; stubborn clogs might require a plumber's snake. Make the clean up easier next time by installing mesh screens or gutter guards.
