Soap-free laundry detergent

Soap Nuts, from an eco-friendly company in Collingwood, Ont., are actually the fruit of the soapberry tree; they foam when they come in contact with water. Just throw a few in the cotton bag provided and do your load of laundry as usual.

Hot new read

Check out The Organized Mind, the latest book from Montreal neuroscientist Daniel J. Levitin. He makes a great case for de-cluttering your home, social life, personal time and workspace so you can maximize your efficiency, creativity and happiness. With clever why-didn’t-I-think-of-that tips (we loved the no-nonsense formula for streamlining a to-do list: do it, delegate it, defer it, drop it), this book will nourish and strengthen your attention span and memory in ways you never thought possible.

The Organized Mind, Daniel J. Levitin, $30, Chapters Indigo.
