Fall's fashion hit list will make you as happy as a schoolgirl
By Tracey Ho Lung
There's something about buying fall's first cosy sweater or practical tote bag that reminds us of those back-to-school days. So what pieces should you add to your wardrobe this fall? Here are five key looks guaranteed to make you happy as a schoolgirl.
Faux fur
There is something undeniably luxurious about fur, real or otherwise. Indulge yourself with a jacket, or look for accessories such as scarves, mitts and bags. Just don't try and wear all of them together—a touch of fur is all you need to keep cosy and look stylish.

Skirt suit
A matching fitted jacket and skirt is an ultra-feminine silhouette that harkens back to the retro chic of the 1950s. It was a great style then and it's still an easy way to look elegant and polished. Suits are also a smart investment because of the extra mileage you can get by wearing the pieces separately. Pair the jacket with jeans on the weekend and wear the skirt with a sweater for a less formal look.

Smooth satin
This shimmering fabric was all over the runways for fall and is not just for evenings anymore. Bring it into the light during the day by pairing a satin camisole with a fitted jacket or wear a satin skirt with a knitted cardigan. This fabric also looks great with denim. Bottom line, the best way to wear it is to highlight just one piece: a little satin goes a long way.

Trench coat
The trench is a must-have jacket because it's so versatile. From weekend errands to business meetings to a fancy dinner, it's a look that always works. Look for a classic, fitted cut to ensure that your trench is more sleek than saggy.

Wide-leg pants
For many women, this classic style is easy to wear because it helps create the illusion of long legs. Heels are a no-fail choice with these pants, but they also look chic when worn with flats à la Lauren Bacall. A pair of wide-leg tweed or wool pants can be dressed up with a camisole and jacket or can be worn casually with a simple cotton tee.
