This sharp, citrusy twist on a negroni sbagliato (“mistaken negroni”) is also known as an Aalborg spritz, Danish spritz or Copenhagen spritz. It calls for aquavit instead of gin and the addition of a bit of citrus.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 oz sweet vermouth

  • 1 oz aquavit

  • 1 oz Campari

  • 3 oz sparkling wine

  • 1/2 oz orange juice

  • 1 orange wedge, for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill highball glass with ice; pour in vermouth, aquavit and Campari. Stir gently.

  • Pour sparkling wine and orange juice overtop. Garnish with orange wheel.

Kitchen Tip:

Similar to gin, aquavit is a neutral spirit flavoured with savoury spices—most notably, caraway.
