This sharp, citrusy twist on a negroni sbagliato (“mistaken negroni”) is also known as an Aalborg spritz, Danish spritz or Copenhagen spritz. It calls for aquavit instead of gin and the addition of a bit of citrus.
1 1/2 oz sweet vermouth
1 oz aquavit
1 oz Campari
3 oz sparkling wine
1/2 oz orange juice
1 orange wedge, for garnish
Fill highball glass with ice; pour in vermouth, aquavit and Campari. Stir gently.
Pour sparkling wine and orange juice overtop. Garnish with orange wheel.
Similar to gin, aquavit is a neutral spirit flavoured with savoury spices—most notably, caraway.
