Enjoy a $5 burger, check out a free blues and jazz festival, and get in shape with the "Couch-to-5k" app.

1. See a risqué performance

After being visually dazzled by The Great Gatsby spectacular, many of us have been digging the feathers and pearls out of our costume trunks. Have Halloween come a few months early and let your Vaudeville freak-flag fly at a burlesque show!

June 1, Leduc Black Gold Rodeo Cabaret & Dance, Leduc, AB

June 2, Kitty Nights Cabaret, Vancouver

2. Lace up your runners

Tis’ the season to get in shape and Calgary's “Endure, A Run Woman Show” (June 1-2), a travelling theatrical performance about a woman’s first grueling 42.5km marathon, has audience members running! With the inner monologue heard through headphones, you follow the performer for 5K of urban streets, public parks, and off road trails. Want to lace-up outside the performance? Get your fitness started with the “Couch-to-5k” app.

3. Go over your calorie limit

Some things are worth breaking your cleanse for, and a $5 gourmet burger is one of them! This week marks “Burger Week” in Toronto with 67 participating restaurants. And if that isn’t enough to tack onto a calorie count, Craft Beer Week has kicked off in Vancouver (May 31- Jun 8), and now the Marquee in Halifax is serving pizza out the backdoor. #nomnomnom

4. Chase your blues away

The weather report is calling for rain, but that’s no reason to have the blues – or is it?  Free blues and jazz festivals kick off this weekend and carry on throughout the summer across Canada. Keep your eyes peeled for local listings and your soul fed by the sounds of the Deep South.

5. Go mad for movies

How do you like to watch your movies? In 3D? As part of the experience through live installations? At home with your feet up? This week there is something out there to meet your cinematic preference. Top picks: Try to catch a virtual butterfly at Flight of the Butterflies in 3D at Montreal’s science centre; become a part of the action at Toronto’s 360 interactive cinematic experience (May 31-Jun1), or watch Warm Bodies; a paranormal romantic comedy based on the novel by Isaac Marion, directed by 50/50’s Jonathan Levine in the comforts of your own home.
