The humble sandwich goes haute. Build a better sandwich with a few fresh ingredients and some creative upgrades.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup peanuts , chopped
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp spiced or dark rum
- 2 ripe bananas , thinly sliced diagonally
- 4 slices egg bread
- 1/2 cup natural unsweetened peanut butter
Instructions
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan set over medium. Add peanuts, sugar and cinnamon. Stir until sugar melts, about 2 min. Remove from heat. Stir in rum and bananas until coated.
- Toast bread. Spread each slice with 2 tbsp peanut butter. Top with bananas. Serve immediately.
